Media Watch: from the video archives

Within the last week some nice tidbits have surfaced on YouTube...

Here is an interview originally broadcast on MuchMusic in 1989 from the promotional cycle for Can't Look Away.  As Trevor mentioned in other interviews of the period, he originally planned to possibly include his former Rabbitt bandmate Duncan Faure in his touring band.

More interestingly, Trevor's comments regarding "reunions and things purely for money" presages the events of the Union album and tour and illustrates, perhaps, how persuasive money can be in certain situations.

This clip also includes an airing of the video for "Something To Hold On To."

This is a segment from Entertainment Tonight to promote Talk which features Trevor discussing the Concertsonics system and Trevor and Jon visiting cover artist Peter Max in his studio.

And although it has been available previously, this same user also uploaded a very good quality version of Yes' appearance on Late Show with David Letterman in 1994 performing "Walls."

Trevor and Shelley's niece Indiana Woodward (along with her fellow NYCB corps member Rachel Hutsell and Ballet Master Glenn Keenan) was a part of making a very special young girl's dream of performing with the New York City Ballet come true, which you can view at the link below.  It's a wonderfully heart-warming story for the holidays, enjoy!

Last week Lou posted a photo of the ARW band and crew on his Facebook page and so now you can see everyone responsible for the wonderful tour we enjoyed this year.


And in a few months they will do it all over again, in other places for other faces.  Here's hoping everyone enjoys their shows next year and I will continue to provide tour reports for those shows where there is social media coverage.

Not one to relax for too long after a nine-week tour, our favorite ARW bassist the intrepid Lee Pomeroy was out gigging yet again with his Headspace comrades (Adam Wakeman, Damian Wilson, Pete Rinaldi and Darby Todd), bringing their brand of progressive metal to the good people of Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands just before the holidays, performing a few new songs from their 2016 release All That You Fear Is Gone.  In late April Headspace will also be playing a series of dates in the UK.

Ever in demand, Lee toured with no less than three bands this year (and probably a few more we don't even know about).

After being nominated three times and which has been fervently desired by the greater fanbase, editorialized and ranted about by various individuals - famous, infamous and otherwise - Yes will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the Class of 2017 along with Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Pearl Jam and Tupac Shakur.  Musician/Producer Nile Rodgers is the recipient of the Award for Musical Excellence.   On the strength of their showing in the fans' ballot - coming in third place - enabled Yes to garner an extra vote in the induction process.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 7th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and will be broadcast on HBO and SiriusXM.

The members of Yes which have been selected for induction comprise the Union lineup: Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Alan White and Tony Kaye.
